Nathan has been on of my favorite singer-songwriters for the better part of a decade. He writes songs that are often deep and introspective but also fun to dance to. He's also an excellent performer to boot. If you ever get to see him live, then pay attention to his mannerisms because when his head leans to the right while his body goes left, that's when you know some magic is about to happen.
It's hard to put the experience of Vegas into words. There's so much to see and do there that you can easily get overwhelmed by it all. Compared almost any other place I've been, the city feels otherworldly both in its charms and its vices.
Floco is an interesting dude. He is lyrically brilliant with a commanding stage presence. That combination is hard to find and hard to fake. His style comes across very influenced by East Coast Hip-hop mixed with southern charm and that puts him on the cutting edge of magnificent. If you ever get the chance, you should definitely meet the man, the legend, Floco Torres.
Lost Keys Literary Festival
I was hired to be one of the photographers for the Lost Keys Literary Festival here in Macon GA. It was a fun weekend filled with music, poetry, and writing workshops.
She has a voice that will haunt your soul right from the very first syllable. I cannot begin to explain what went on in my mind the first time I heard wreck. This concert was so much fun. If you ever get a chance, you need to see her live.
Lagos is a vibrant city full of interesting people. You never know who you'll run into. Between old friends and new ones, there's always a good time to be had.
Jingle Jam 2015
Of all the photo sets that I have done this year, this one is the most dear to me. Aside from the fact that it featured some of my favorite artists, it was also my friend Lily's last concert before moving back to Texas. She was there with me for just about every concert that I went to this year and it's sad to think that this was the last one for a while. Lily, I wish you nothing but immense happiness back in Texas. I look forward to the next concert we go to. Sincerely, - Tola
Chinua Hawk ft. Thee Acquainted (Live At Eddie's Attic)
Chinua Hawk has been one of my favorite performers for almost a decade. In addition to being an incredibly talented musician, I've always found him to be a genuinely kind and humble person. Watching him and special guests Thee Acquainted perform at one of my favorite venues was a delight beyond measure. I look forward to hearing more music from them in the future.
Eat Your Kimchi Tour - Atlanta 2015
Simon and Martina are a Canadian couple, currently living in South Korea. They created the YouTube channel Eat Your Kimchi to document their adventures and observations as foreigners living in South Korea. In the few years, that I have been watching the channel, Eat Your Kimchi has become one of my all-time favorite YouTube channels. The EYK crew are some of the goofiest and most thoughtful people I've seen on the internet. As part of their North America tour, they came to Atlanta. I ran into Simon and Martina before the show and they were gracious enough to let me photograph the event.
I just got news that Percy Sledge died. He was one of the greats. I was fortunate enough to have taken pictures of his last concert in Macon, GA. Early in his career, Percy did a lot of work with other music greats from Macon, GA, especially Otis Redding. This is my little way of honoring him.
My friend, DJ Amerigo Gazaway, famous for his mixes Fela Soul, Yasiin Gaye, and founder of the SoulMates Project was on tour back in late 2013. He happened to be stopping through my hometown of Macon, GA. While he was in town, he was gracious enough to let me take photos of him doing his thing. You can check out More of his music at http://amerigomusic.com/
Noel Stephen and the Darlings
A few years back, my buddy Noel and his band (Noel Stephen and the Darlings) came to Macon, GA to do a show at the 567. Noel was gracious enough to let me photograph their set. I've been sitting on these photos since then, but I finally got around to cleaning them up a little.
